Sources & Methodology
Where Showghar's showtimes, movie details and box office figures come from, how they are kept current, and how to report an error.
Showtimes
Showtimes come from the cinemas' own online ticketing systems: QFX Cinemas, iNi Cinemas, and the halls that sell tickets through Picovico. Showghar reads them regularly and keeps each show with its start time in Nepal time (NPT, UTC+05:45). A show the cinema cancels is marked cancelled, and a sold-out show is marked sold out. Shows listed between 1 and 6 AM are treated as listing errors and left out of summaries and structured data. For the final word on a show, use the cinema's booking link next to it.
Now showing and coming soon
A movie is "now showing" when at least one show of it is listed from today on. It is "coming soon" when it has no shows yet and its release date is after today. Neither label is set by hand, so both follow the cinemas' listings.
Movies and artists
Movie details (title, release date, runtime, certificate, cast and crew, posters) come from the cinemas' listings and from public records of Nepali films, matched into one record per movie. Artist profiles are built from the films they are credited in.
Box office
Box office figures are shown as reported by the source named beside them. Showghar does not estimate or adjust them.
Weekly reports
The weekly reports count every show Nepal's cinemas listed for a cinema week (Friday to Thursday). A movie's screen share is its number of shows as a part of all the week's shows. The current week's report updates as the week goes on; past weeks keep their numbers.
Ratings and reviews
Ratings and reviews are written by registered Showghar members, one per member for each movie, theater or artist. Reviews marked as containing spoilers are kept out of search engine data.
Stories
Stories name their author, with the date they were published and last updated.
