Synopsis
The Battle of Nalapani marked the central conflict of the Anglo-Nepalese War of 1814–1816, pitting the forces of the British East India Company against Nepal. Fought around the Nalapani fortress near Dehradun, the Nepalese battalion, under the command of Captain Balbhadra Kunwar, faced off against the British troops led by Major-General Rollo Gillespie. Tragically, Gillespie met his demise on the first day of the assault.
This film stands as the inaugural cinematic portrayal of this historic war in the context of Nepal. The endeavor is both challenging and groundbreaking. Capturing the essence of the 1814 conflict in a motion picture format presents difficulties, yet director Rimesh Adhkari has ventured into uncharted territory with a new and commendable approach.
The innovative attempt by director Rimesh Adhkari introduces a fresh perspective on this historic war, and its value is truly praiseworthy.
